Fall Winterization (System Shutdown)

Protect Your System Before Winter Hits

Freezing temperatures can cause serious and costly damage to irrigation systems if they aren’t properly shut down. Professional fall winterization protects your system from freeze-related issues and ensures a smooth start-up next spring.

Our process is precise, thorough, and designed to safeguard every component — from valves and lines to controllers and fittings.

Our Winterization Process

Each shutdown is performed using commercial-grade air compressors and careful isolation of water flow to prevent freezing or expansion damage.

Avoid the first frost rush — schedule your winterization early for guaranteed seasonal service. Clients enrolled in our Annual Maintenance Program receive priority booking and year-round support.

During every winterization service, we:

  • Shut off and isolate the irrigation system’s main water supply
  • Drain and blow out all zone lines using controlled air pressure
  • Inspect visible components and fittings for wear or leaks
  • Disconnect and power down controllers to prevent electrical drain
  • Confirm all valves and backflow devices are fully protected for winter

Why It’s Important

Proper winterization prevents cracked pipes, damaged valves, and expensive repairs in the spring. Even a small amount of residual water left in your lines can freeze, expand, and cause significant internal damage.

Our technicians use professional equipment and proven procedures to ensure your system is fully cleared, sealed, and safe from the harsh winter conditions unique to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
